My good friend Melaw, pictured above, attended her first Hollywood premiere for The Revenant. Not bad for a girl who likes to tan moose hides here in Dene territory.
I got to tag along as the video cameraman on a documentary project Lesley Johnson is making on Melaw. I was able to sneek in a few photographs along the way, I even got to be a red carpet photographer for a couple of seconds.
All the photos were taken with my Nikon D750 and the f4 24-120mm Nikkor lens. I love the camera and I use it for both photography and video. The lens make is a great choice for video and I seldom want to shoot more open than f4 so this lens works good. I tend to carry the small and inexpensive nikkor f1.8 50mm lens as a backup and for a faster lens in case I need it.
By far my favourite part of the trip was hanging out at a tin type photoshoot featuring Melaw. Our friend Kali Spitzer is doing some really great work with tin types portraits.
